I thought if I’d just gone to sleep and woke up, I’d realize it was all a dream. I rambled through the acceptance speech (or lack thereof) and am still at a loss for words. Thank you donnie l. betts for entrusting me with bringing Celie to life and for insisting that I always be myself and never imitate. Thank you Lindsay Sullivan, Jennifer Orf, Charles Packard, Patricia Wells, David Wohl and the entire Aurora Fox crew for putting on the best version of the Color Purple ever. And to the cast, the best collection of hearts and talents assembled anywhere in the world, ever: I love you.
